It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, Ron Confiant on Thursday, April 13, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Robinson) Confiant.
Ron owned and operated Ron and Ida’s Christmas Tree Farm in Long Island for many years. He enjoyed the time he spent in the woods tending to his trees and watching the wildlife. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Ida May (McLean) Confiant; his two sons, Ron Jr., Watervale, N.S., and David, North Sydney; his daughter, Julie (Reg Kennedy), also of North Sydney; his four grandchildren, Stan, Brandon, Justin, Kelsey; his great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Kylie; his two brothers, Tom (Dorothy) Confiant, North Sydney, and Peter (Beatrice), of Glace Bay; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Camille, William and Raymond, and sisters, Julia and Martha.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.
