JOHN IVAN UICIC

JOHN IVAN UICIC

August 24, 1925 - July 11, 2017
Leaving behind his dear wife Sylvia and three children, Ruth (Brent), David (Sandra) and John (Tania), seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephew and family in Toronto and two nephews in England.
John was born in Mune, Yugoslavia and came to Canada in 1953. He had many jobs in his new country - working as a miner at the Brittania Mine, as a cook on a fishing boat off the coast of BC, and as an orderly in a hospital in Ontario. He found his calling in BC as a faller, eventually working for BC Hydro clearing the lines. He started his own tree service business while living in White Rock, BC. There was never a tree too tall for John.
When he retired, John and his wife moved to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to family. They lived in a friendly community on Stalashen Drive for 33 years. John loved to help neighbours with their yard and tree jobs and was loved by all.
You have suffered and told but few. Tired and weary he made no fuss but tried so hard to stay with us.
From his wife and family - rest in peace dear John.
Never to be forgotten.
Many thanks to Dr. Bruce Robinson who took wonderful care of John, and also to the hospital staff and paramedics who attended him on numerous occasions at home and at Sechelt Hospital.
There will be a celebration of John's life at Davis Bay/Wilson Creek Community Hall on Sunday, August 27 between 2pm and 4pm. All who knew him are welcome.
