It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Millie Tobin, on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Jackson and Esther (Dalton) Young. Millie held many jobs throughout her life, beginning with Woolworth's in Sydney Mines; then almost twenty years working at National Sea Products, as well as MacKeigans bakery, MacDonald's Canteen, a dispatcher with Blue & White Taxi and Ambulance, all in North Sydney; as well as a time in the "Take-a-Break" canteen in the North Sydney Mall. She was a talented seamstress and award winning baker.
Millie enjoyed being active. She enjoyed dancing, bowling and skating, and could be seen walking daily through North Sydney, waving and smiling to everyone that passed. Millie was a kind and loving lady who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and Sunday visits with her sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ken Grady; her daughter, Cindy (Ron Delaney), Sydney; her sons, Rick, Sydney and Roger (Theresa Devoe), Alder Point; her step daughter, Sandra Grady, Stephensville, Ont.; her six grandchildren, Collette O'Quinn, Toronto, Bridy O'Quinn, Sydney, Jolene Devoe, Toronto, Jonathon, Nicolas and Kris, Stephensville, Ont.; her sisters, Bern Allen, Pickering, Ont., Doris (Walter) Bragg, Jeanette Boutilier, both of North Sydney, Loretta Johnston, Sydney Mines; her brother, John (Sylvia Reynolds), North Sydney; many nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend, Vera Strickland, North Sydney; and special friends, Ernie and Chuckie Tobin, Wellington, Ont., Valda Nugent, Eastern Passage, Violet Young, Arthena Tobin and Mabel Hickey, all of North Sydney.
