Metcalfe, Joseph Roderick - Springhill, 73 years of age, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro, surrounded by his family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Thomas and Christina (MacIntyre) Metcalfe. Joe worked at many jobs over his lifetime stretching from PEI to Pennsylvania and back to NS with the last job of his career being at Oxford Frozen Foods where he spent many hours teasing and tormenting the girls! Joe also enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, having a beer, and spending time with his family. Joe will now rest in peace with his loving wife of 46 years, Donna (Reid). He will be sadly missed by his sons, Pat, Springhill; Tim (Mary), Springhill; Joey (Terry), Truro; John (Nicole), Springhill; his grandchildren; his 3 children from a previous marriage, Elmer, Roy and Christina Metcalfe (and their families) of Buffalo, New York, a sister Mary in Cape Breton, brother-in-law, Garth (Candy) Reid, Pugwash, mother-in-law, "Mom" Georgina Reid (Reg Adshade), and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, Oxford (447-2930). There will be no funeral service as per Joe's wishes.
