JOHN "JACK" NOEL HAYES

JOHN "JACK" NOEL HAYES

Born in Beith, Scotland December 24, 1928
Died Sechelt, BC July 21, 2017.
Jack passed away peacefully July 21st surrounded by family and loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Ella. He is survived by his loving partner, Margaret Thorne, his daughters Lesley and Sheila (Steve), son Ken (Lisa), grandchildren Kevin, Brandon, Matthew and Nevada, brother Andy (Maud), niece Evelyn (Sandy) and many dear friends and family.
Newlywed Jack immigrated to Vancouver in 1957 and never looked back. He embraced all the opportunities, adventures and beauty of the West Coast. A loving, generous husband, father and friend, he shared his passions - books and knowledge, photography, athletics, gardening, cooking, music, mechanics and machines and most importantly, humour, with family and friends.
He was actively involved in community sports on the North Shore for years. In the 1970’s, he coached the NorWesters Track and Field Club and later Sparca Gymnastics Club. Sunday runs around Stanley Park (sometimes twice!) were a regular part of Jack’s life for many years.
Jack was a steel fabricator for most his working life and later on he indulged his artistic side in creating beautiful metal structures for his garden and his friends. Jack and Ella were world travellers and he was always fascinated with people and cultures from around the globe. He was intensely curious and had a vivid imagination from which he crafted many wondrous tales. Jack loved all living things and had great respect and awe for the natural world. Most of all, he loved to make people laugh. Jack was a humourist at heart.
Jack had a full and joyful life. He was very lucky to find love for a second time later in life and was incredibly happy to the very end of his 88 years. He was a fortunate man.
Heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care, Home Care Services and all the other wonderful health professionals of the Sunshine Coast. Sincere gratitude to Dr. Jack Bryson - an outstanding family physician.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a local charity of your choice.
