Elwin Burton Urquhart husband of Merica (Hutchison) Urquhart, passed away at the Miramichi Hospital on Thursday, April 14, 2011 following a battle with cancer at the age of 70. Born in Lyttleton, NB, he is the son of Hilda (Hamilton Urquhart) Vye and the late Robert Urquhart. Besides his wife and mother, Elwin is survived by: one son: Jeffrey (Lorraine) of Saint John, NB; three daughters: Darlene Wilcox (Russell) of Waasis, NB; Wendy Waye (Danny) of Fredericton, NB; Verna Blackmore (Kirby) of Strathadam, NB; nine grandchildren: Riley Urquhart, Candace, Haley and Sasha Wilcox, Matthew, Jonathan and Jessica Waye, Daniel and Kassidy Blackmore, one great grandson: Cohen MacArthur; three brothers: James (Muriel), Alton (Lorna) all of Miramichi, NB; Robert of Chipman, NB; two sisters: Rosalie Dunnett (Gregory) of Cambridge Narrows, NB; Judy Mutch (Wayne) of Lyttleton, NB; one sister in law: Avis Dunnett of Whitney as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his father: Robert, Elwin is predeceased by: sons: Jason and Jeremy and his step-father: Perley Vye.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home, Newcastle this evening from 7 to 9 PM and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 1 PM with Rev. John Fraser officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Boom Road later in the spring. In Elwin’s memory, donations may be made to the NB Extra Mural Program, St. James and St. John United Church Organ Fund or to a memorial of one’s choice.
