Norma B. Proud, 83, of Moncton, N.B., with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, April 14, 2011.
Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late E. Claude and Josephine (Foster) Seeley. Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a former Home Economics teacher at Saint John Vocational School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the WMS and served the church in various other capacities in past years.
Norma was a former volunteer at Spencer Memorial Home and was involved, with her husband Jack (Jumping Jack), in their family businesses. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, listening to music, working on the computer, watching certain TV soap operas and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandson, Landon.
Norma will be sadly missed by her husband of over 57 years Jack (Jumping Jack Proud); her children, Patti Proud (Mike Shannon) of Calgary, AB, and Robert “Bob” (Patti) of Riverview, N.B.; precious grandchildren, Julia, Rebecca, Cynthia and Amanda Carter; Katie and Jillian Proud; Hillary and Olivia Campbell; her precious great-grandson, Landon; son-in-law, Floyd Carter of Kouchibouguac, N.B., as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Janice Carter (2008); sister, Pauline; brothers, George and Lorne.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton, N.B. (506-858-1995) on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service at First Baptist Church, Queen St., Moncton, N.B., on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 2 p.m., Rev. Delbert Bannister officiating. Reception following the service.
