We, the family of the late Lorne E. Smith would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to those that made a difficult time easier by their thoughtfulness on dad’s passing June 21, 2017.
As dad’s health became a concern he was carefully and kindly taken care of by the Renal Dialysis Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. The staff in the dialysis unit treated dad extra special: in particular his daughter-in-law Diana Smith. To the ambulance drivers who cheerfully took dad in all kinds of weather three times a week, always with a smile, thank you.
Dad was very grateful to be able to stay in our family home that he loved and was so proud of. This was made possible by a group of very special organizations and individuals. Thank you to the VON for their attention to dads needs, he really looked forward to your visits. To New Dawn and Cape Breton Homemakers, thank you. In particular, we would like to thank Wilma Nicholson, Charlie Nicholson and Donna Fraser for treating our dad like he was their own dad, you truly are living angels.
Besides his family, dad’s property was his pride and joy, thank you so much to Graham Bussey for keeping the yard looking groomed and attending to the maintenance of the home.
Thank you to Fr. Frank Abbass for the service, Carol MacDougall whose music is always soothing and anyone who sent cards, food, or made donations. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
To those folks who called and spent time with dad keeping his mind always sharp you made a huge difference in his life.
