
JANE ELIZABETH URQUHART
May 10, 1927 - August 8, 2017
After a joyful visit with her family on Sunday, August 7, Jane passed away the following night from kidney failure at 1:30am, August 8 at Sechelt Hospital.
Jane is survived by her husband Bob, and sons Gord and Don. Predeceased by son Bruce.
Jane was born in Vancouver Women's Hospital on May 10, 1927. As a very young baby she was adopted by Isabel Bolton and raised with sister Grace. Isabel and Grace were daughters of Dr. Bolton, a missionary doctor who practiced in the First Nations village of Port Simpson.
Jane is also survived by daughter-in-laws Annemarie and Maria and grandchild Elia. She has six other grandchildren, Cam, Mike, Ella, Cara, Ainsley and Keisia.
Jane graduated from UBC in 1949 and taught for one year before marrying Bob. Their first year was spent in Port Melon and they then moved to Port Moody, then Sarnia and finally to Gibsons some 32 years ago. Due to work assignments, time sharing and two sons living abroad, she travelled to many countries.
Jane was a member of the Hopkins Hospital Auxiliary and the United Church and was quite active in the earlier days. She was a very good cook, she and another lady organized a gourmet dinner club with 16 couples.
Jane was a joyful, happy person with a good sense of humour and had a wonderful smile.
A celebration of life will be held at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club on Sunday, August 27, starting with lunch at 1pm.
