Trenton - Lawrence Theodore MacDonald, 80, of Ninth St., Trenton, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a sudden illness on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the ICU of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born June 19, 1930 in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Roy K. and Sarah (MacDonald) MacDonald. He is survived by two sons: Glen (Jane), Fredericton, NB; Ross (Katherine Grist), Trenton; two daughters: Linda, Fort McMurray, AL; Nancy (Steven) MacGillivary, Trenton; six grandchildren: Angelia; William; Steven; Daniel; Aaron and Tanya; brothers: Fulton (Mary); Harold, both of New Glasgow; Howard (Aili), Manitoulin Island, ON; sister: Freda (Meryl) Smith, The Valley, NS; and the members of the Jenkins family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor (Jenkins); daughter Rhonda in infancy; brothers: Duncan, Samuel (Hannah), John R., Emery; sister Elsie (Scotty) Findlay; sister-in-law Nora; brother-in-law Martin.
He started his working career in the Hard Rock Mines in Ontario, and several years later came back to Nova Scotia and worked as a carpenter throughout the province before settling in the carpentry shop at Hawker Siddeley. He was also a co-owner of the Tara Motel. He spent 16 years as a fire fighter for the Town of Trenton and he loved to spend his spare time at his camp in Indian Harbour Lake, Guysborough, with his buddy, Roger. Visitation was held Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton from where funeral service will be held at 10:30 am today, Monday with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating.
