1928-2011 — Surrounded by her loving family, Violet Jane Brown passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on April 17, 2011. Predeceased by her devoted husband William Cecil Brown; parents William and Lillian Akerman (nee Clarke); brothers Frank, Stanley, and William Akerman; her sister Ginevra Wells; brothers-in-law Jabez Morris, Harold Wells, and Jim Yates. Left with fond and loving memories, her sons Clyde (Lorraine) Brown, and William (Brenda) Brown; four grandchildren Kelly (Mike) Lee, Karen (John) Daley, Robert Brown, and Leslie Brown; two great-grandchildren Kasey Violet Lee and Sam Daley; sisters Anne Morris, Phyllis (Ambrose) Janes, and Marjorie Yates; brother Cecil (Eileen) Akerman, and sister-in-law Marjorie Akerman. Violet also leaves a very large circle of extended family and friends who will forever remember her kind, gentle spirit and heart-warming smile. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Monday, April 18 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 19 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. from St. James United Church in St. John’s, NL., with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
