LAVERDIERE, Denis Marc Joseph. It is with deep regret, the family of Denis, announces his demise on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, AB. Denis was born August 29, 1960, at Vanguard, SK, to Elphege and Lena (Perrault) Laverdiere. Denis took his schooling at Neville and the Comprehensive High School, Swift Current, where he participated in sports activities, enjoying football etc. Denis spent his early years on the farm and in his early teens moved to Edmonton to be with his sister Claire. Denis was a carpenter by trade and married Heather in Edmonton, June 29, 1984. Denis and Heather lived in Edmonton prior to moving to Ontario, residing also for a couple of years in the States. They returned to live in Edmonton in later years and then to Chauvin, AB, his residence at the time of his passing. Denis was predeceased by mother Lena, December 18, 1976; brother Paul, July 1, 1975; his maternal and paternal grandparents; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Heather, Chauvin, AB; two step-daughters, Sherry and Julia, Ontario; and three step-grandchildren; father Elphege Laverdiere; step-mother Patricia of Swift Current; loving and devoted sister Claire Laverdiere, Edmonton; step-brother Stephen (Yvonne) Covey, Saskatoon; step-sister Patricia (Jeff) Schryver, Leduc, AB; step-brother Michael (Marina) Covey of Saskatoon, SK; as well as one niece, five nephews and four great nieces and one great nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins. Denis will be remembered as a quiet and gentle person; he had a great passion and love for all animals. Denis suffered enormously the past five years due to complications of diabetes. He will be mourned and greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved and knew him! Rest in peace Denis! Creech Funeral Home, Wainwright, AB, were in charge of cremation.
