New Glasgow - C. Irene Horne, age 88, of 661 Little Harbour Road, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was the youngest child of the late David Marshall Horne, Alma and Laura Sinclair Fraser, Bridgeville. She was educated in New Glasgow schools, and was a graduate of New Glasgow High School. She worked for the Maritime Command in Halifax during the war and after the war, went to work for the Unemployment Insurance Commission where she stayed until her retirement. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Earle and Cecil, sister Verna and nephew Allan. She is survived by nieces: Margot, Leslie and Joyce; nephews: David, Stephen, Ian and Bruce. She is also survived by several grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation 6-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 pm Wednesday in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery.
