Madeline Margaret MacDonald (Power)
It is with sadness that the family of Madeline MacDonald announces her death on April 17, 2011, in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Madeline was the loving wife of Joe MacDonald of Stratford, P.E.I.
Madeline was born Nov. 8, 1914, and was the daughter of James E. and Elizabeth Power of Halifax. She was the last living member of her family. She was a very devote Catholic and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish during her young life. She started her career with Trans Canada Airlines in Halifax and in the early 50’s moved to Miami where she worked for North Western Airlines.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Mary, Bessie, Katherine and Margaret, and brothers, William A. (Bill), Thomas, George, Gerald, Jack and Jim.
She was a wonderful aunt to all of her many nieces and nephews. She never forgot our birthdays and treated us all as her own. Aunt Madeline had a great sense of humour and would call us just to tell us her latest joke. She always said that if they let her coach the Toronto Blue Jays, they would win the series. She never missed a game. She loved to tell us family stories from way back. She was a trouper in many ways. We will all miss her.
Madeline's family would like to sincerely thank her dear friend Gerry Sullivan, and the Moore family in P.E.I. for visiting her and extending their love and kindness to her. Due to the excellent care Aunt Madeline received from her caregivers at Andrews of Stratford, she was able to have quality in her life until her passing.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a gathering of the family at a later time.
