Marjorie Marshe
NEW GLASGOW – Marjorie Isabelle Marshe, 91 of the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Grant Street and Landmark Court, New Glasgow, passed away April 16, 2011 in the Manor.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Janet (White) Marshe.
She was a resident of Cape Breton, Amherst and Montreal before moving to New Glasgow in 1942. She was a member of the Calvin United Church in New Waterford, where she graduated from Central High School. She went on to become a Registered Nurse graduating from the Aberdeen School of Nursing in 1942 followed by Post-graduate training in Obstetrics at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she worked for a number of years. She worked at the Highland View Hospital in Amherst and retired from the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow after many years as Operating Room Supervisor. She was a member of the Aberdeen Hospital Alumni.
She is survived by a sister, Florence (Creighton) Marney, Amherst; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Wallace, New Waterford; Gerald, Sydney; William and George both of Cambridge, Ontario; a sister Emily MacDonald, Trenton, NS.
Cremation to take place.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Trinity United Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook presiding. A reception to follow in the church hall with burial of ashes in Abercrombie Cemetery following the reception.
No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
