New Glasgow - Dorothy May MacDougall, age 96, of the Valley View Villa, formerly of Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 in the Villa. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Susan Myrtle (Heighton) Fraser. She worked in the payroll office at Dalhousie University and was retired from C.P. Smith Co. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and member of the C.W.L. for over 60 years. Dorothy was a former member of the Abercrombie Golf Club and was a volunteer with many organizations. She is survived by daughters: Gail, Halifax; Debbie Austin, New Glasgow; sons: Barry (Darlene), New Glasgow; Scott (Gaile), New Glasgow; grandchildren: Tony, Ian, Melanie, Michael, Brian, Michelle, Kris, Ashley, Justin and Charlotte; great grandchildren: Kayleigh, Kyle, Brayden and Eva. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh; daughter, Cheryl; brothers: Robert and Irving. Visitation 6-8 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 am Wednesday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
