REIMER – Vernon Rudolph, age 89 of Swift Current, and formerly of the Waldeck District passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Palliser Regional Care Centre. Vern will forever be remembered in our hearts by his loving wife of 61 years, Lydia (Reich); his children, Jerry (Karen), Ron (Joanne), Sandra Carr, Dennis (Evelyn); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as sister, Lena Meyer, Clara Schmiess, Minnie Rempel, Betty (Pete) Heinrichs; and brothers, Harold and Erwin (Helen). Vern was predeceased by his parents, August and Lydia Reimer; sisters, Hilda and Frieda; and son-in-law Tom Carr. Vern was the first of nine children born to August and Lydia Reimer on the farm north of Waldeck. He attended Spenst School until he was required to help on the family farm. In 1947 Vern married Lydia Reich, the love of his life. From this union four children were born. In the fall of 1973 Vern and Lydia moved to Swift Current where they resided until his passing. Vern loved the farm and did so until 1997 when his health started to fail. Vern and Lydia loved to travel and went to many places over the years. He served on several boards during his life – R.M. Councilor 21 years, Wheat Pool 25 years, Pioneer Lodge, Farm Forum, a member of St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church. Vern will be fondly remembered by his family and by all who knew him as a quiet gentle man who loved life. A funeral service was held on Friday, August 7, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The ushers were David Raynard and Barclay Tanner. The pallbearers were his grandchildren. The interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
