Our family is truly appreciative of the support and sympathy from family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers during the recent loss of our father. Such kind gestures of cards, phone calls, food, flowers, donations, online condolences and visits were very comforting and are testimony to what a great man our father was. Sincere thanks to the wonderful County Homemakers, VON, doctors, nurses, staff and palliative care volunteers of 4B and the En Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional. To Dr. Gregg Myatt, we are grateful for the care and compassion you provided through the years and into Dad’s final days. Thank you to “Dad’s Angels”, Tina, Lucy, Mary and Laura for the compassionate care you provided. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Our sincere gratitude is extended to Rev. Lydia MacKinnon for the beautiful funeral, to Donnie Campbell for his music and songs, and to Brent MacDonald and Lindsay Ross for the touching eulogies. We thank the pallbearers Ronnie MacDonald, Eric McJanet, Merrill Betts, Lloyd John MacLeod, Vincent MacLellan and Miles MacDonald, and the honorary pall bearers, Charlie Dixon, Brian Decoste, Donald MacLeod, Earl Hodgson, and Jack MacDonald, who escorted Dad to his final place of rest. The Legion Tribute (Last Post) conducted at graveside by the members of the Ashby Legion Branch 138 will forever be etched in our hearts. To the staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel, your kindness and professionalism eased our sorrow in this difficult time.
May he rest in peace knowing that he is loved dearly and that his family in their sadness has been surrounded by a caring community.
