Claire Malcolm Mingo, 89, Elk Court Nursing Home, Brookfield, and formerly of Tatamagouche, passed away April 20, 2011, in Elk Court.
Born in Keble, Colchester County, he was a son of the late Owen C. and Edith L. (Tattrie) Mingo.
Claire was a veteran of WWII having served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as Leading Aircraftsman in Bomber Reconnaissance squads. Following the war, he returned to farm in Keble until 1958 and then worked in the maintenance department at Tatamagouche High School until 1980. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and flower gardening. He was very active in Church having served as Treasurer and Warden.
Surviving are, his wife, the former Norma Murdock; sons, Ronald (Jean), Tatamagouche; Grant (Verna), Greenfield; granddaughters, Stacy and her fiance, Peter Curry, Rhonda Hamilton (Jay) and Ann Harrison (Bob); grandsons, Mark (Cindy) and Wayne (Myra); six great-grandchildren; sister, Reta MacKinnon; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by great-granddaughter, Jennifer Hamilton; brother, Russell; sister, Hazel Weatherby; two brothers
in infancy.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 64, Tatamagouche will conduct a Veteran's tribute service at 1:45 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011, in Coulter's Funeral
Home, Tatamagouche (657-3288), with visitation to follow from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, in Holy Trinity
Anglican Church, on the Louisville Road in Denmark, Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Holy Trinity Church, North Shore Health Services Foundation or a charity of one's choice would be
appreciated.
