The family of Mabel Ruscheinsky is saddened to announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She passed peacefully in the care of Sechelt Hospital on October 13, 2017.
She is survived by her five children, Denis (Nancy), Greg, Debra, David and Florence (Aaron), five grandchildren, Lee (Laura), Carly (Ryan), Dan, Devon and Shanel, and six great-grandchildren, Ella, Micah, Ethan, Scarlett, Ruby and Ravyn. Predeceased by her husband, Alphonse Ruscheinsky.
Mabel lived a full and colourful life that started on the Simpcw First Nations Reserve in 1935. She married Alphonse, the love of her life, in 1951 and was happily married for 52 years. Mabel was a dedicated volunteer at Totem Lodge for 10 years, and a member of the ladies auxiliary, which she was very proud. She loved singing, telling stories, "adult" humour, and most of all, her family.
Her fun-loving, youthful spirit will be remembered by all.
A special thank you to her doctor, Dr. Wildgrube, whom she adored, and R.N. Catt Popp, for lovingly attending her side during her final moments on earth. We know that Mabel is now in heaven, singing, dancing and attending the party she knew was waiting for her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday, October 28 from 1pm-4pm.
