Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his adoring family, on April 20, 2011 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Benjamin William Hatfield of St. John's, aged 74 years. Predeceased by parents Lawrence and Alice Hatfield. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife of 47 years: Joan (nee Horlick); children Joanne (Jason), Larry (Coralie), Steven (Andrea), Alison (Paul); grandchildren Benjamin, Kristen, Daniel, Andrew; as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Ben will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, guidance and dedication to those he loved. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held from Corpus Christi Parish on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Cremation will follow. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ben's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
