It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sarah Ann Johnston, 90, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the guest home.
Born in Barrachois Harbour, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Christine Ann (MacDonald) Johnston.
In her earlier years Sarah worked as a housekeeper. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, and a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. She loved a good game of cards and bingo and going for drives with her best friend Betty Musgrave.
Surviving is her sister, Christene MacAulay; her nieces, nephews; and her very close friend Betty Musgrave.
She was predeceased by her seven brothers, John, Alex, Nelson, Archie, Richard, Charlie, Wilburt, and her six sisters, Johanna, Sadie, Ann, Katie, Elizabeth and Mary.
The funeral service for Sarah will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial will follow in Calvin United Church Cemetery, Upper Leitches Creek.
