Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: August 8th, 2009
With broken hearts, we the family announce the sudden passing of Cory Malcolm MacAskill on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.
Born Nov. 21, 1985, he was the son of Arlene Delaney (Leonard Kennedy) and Terry MacAskill (Heather Compton).
Cory is also survived by his son, Jaden; girlfriend, Shandi McCann, Whitney Pier; sister, Jennifer (Paul Hill), Halifax; grandmother, Rachel Burbine and aunt. Darlene, St. Ann’s Bay.
Cory was a great joy to his family. During his younger years he spent many happy times with his father, among them travelling with his sister to Ottawa, Niagara Falls and Canada’s Wonderland. Before venturing out West to work in the oil fields, his father was pleased to have him work by his side in his roofing business.
Cory was an avid swimmer, a good and true friend to many and certainly a kind-hearted soul.
There is nothing greater than a mother’s love and the bond that this mother and son shared could never be broken.
All of his loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will sadly miss him.
Cory was predeceased by his grandparents, Bill and Kay Delaney, and grandfather, Ralph Burbine.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life for Cory will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at Immaculate Heart Church, Mira Road, with Fr. Gerald Dunphy officiating.
Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
All our life’s a circle, sunrise and sundown
It seems like I’ve been here before
I can’t remember when
But I have this funny feeling
That we’ll all be together again.
