Byron Curry

Born: April 26th, 2011

Curry, Byron Douglas - 45, Wentworth, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Amherst, he was the son of Douglas and Betty (Patriquin) Curry of Wentworth. Byron was active in hockey having grown up in the Amherst Minor Hockey system, playing on many rep teams. He later played for the East Hants Penguins Junior team. He followed his playing days by coaching the Cumberland Night Hawks Minor Junior and later the Amherst Midget Bombers to provincial hockey championships. He was a member of the Canadian Hereford Assoc., Canadian Angus Assoc., Knights of Pythias, Oxford, and the Wentworth Fire Dept. Byron was also a director of the Cumberland County Exhibition. He worked at various jobs over the years, most recently with the Department of Transportation in Wentworth. Beside his parents, Byron is survived by his daughters, Breanna Curry, Wentworth; Alicia Curry, Kentville; sister, Diane Morin, Cornwall, ON; nephews, Stephan (Christine) and Joel (Lynsey); niece, Marcia Morin; grand niece, Isabella; grand nephews, Jacob and Reilly. Arrangements are under the direction of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, Wentworth (447-2930). Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, with funeral service at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 28, all in Wentworth United Church.
