With broken hearts we regret to announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Smith (nee Fitzgerald), at the Health Sciences Centre, on Saturday, October 28, 2017, in the presence of her youngest twin boys, after a five-year illness with OPCA. Predeceased by parents Peter and Ida Fitzgerald, brother Jim and sisters Josephine and Enid. Leaving to mourn with life long memories husband Everett, sons Eldon (Rhonda) St. Philip's, Donald (Brenda) Calgary, daughter Claudette, Calgary, and twin sons Frank (Gianna), Foxtrap and Gerard, St. Philips; grandchildren Marlon (Jen), Shea, Sheena, Lori and Dylan; great-grandchildren Ryder and Oskar (all of Calgary), whom she adored, as well as a large number of nephews and nieces, special niece Shelley Dinn who was like a second daughter to her and best friends Martha Clarke and Margaret Rose. The family would also like to thank her three homecare workers Ashley, Amanda and Vanessa for their loving support, kindness and care. Your compassion was greatly appreciated by Mom and all the family. In the 60's and early 70's, Betty (Bet) operated her own small pool hall and juke box joint and on many Saturday nights there would be a swinging time with live bands and lots of dancing. Betty was well known for her warm hospitality, wonderful sense of humour and her many delicious home cooked meals. In the early 70's she turned the store into a fish and chip takeout. In 1973, she moved on to work at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital as a Medical Records Technician until her retirement in 1997. In retirement she travelled many times to visit her family in Calgary and Scottsdale and many times to sunny hot destinations with her daughter Claudette, who were both looking for that perfect tan. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Caul's Chapel with cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her name may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

Mom
Your life was a blessing,
Your memory a treasure,
You are loved beyond words,
And missed beyond measure.

Always a special place in our hearts,
For a mother who loved us dearly,
Gentle woman, peaceful sleep.
