MOFFAT - Agnes Moffat, age 85, passed away at the Cabri Prairie Health Centre on Monday, April 18, 2011, with her children by her side. Mom was born on February 23, 1926, the sixth of ten children born to Hans & Karen Rya of the Fosterton district. Her home was in Cabri. Mom devoted her life to her four children, Denise, Dennis, Greg and Dianne; and their spouses, Gene Andreas, Della MacKay and Rick Bos. She was proud of her eight grandchildren, Richelle (Darren Titemore), Scott, Rya, Alicia (Paul Duncan), Dylane (Tiffany Reynolds), Janelle, Derick and Justin: as well as her three great-grandchildren, Verity, Vance and Nait. She is survived by her brothers, Norman Rya (Geraldine), Glen Rya (Kay); her sisters, Irene Driedger and Cora (Bob) Haydon; as well as many nephews and nieces. Mom was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Alex, in 2001; her brothers, Halvor, Ken, Stanley and Leo; and by a sister, Shirley Court. Mom married Alex Moffat on December 26, 1947. They owned and operated the General Store in Cabri for many years. They also farmed. Our parents were proud members of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mom also worked on various committees supporting her children. She loved to bake. Her homemade buns and desserts were legendary. Christmas-time was Mom’s favorite time of the year. Mom was a skilled and avid curler and ball player. She also enjoyed gardening and playing cards. The Private Family Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Swift Current Funeral Chapel. The Interment Service was held at the Cabri Cemetery, Cabri, SK with family, extended family and special friends gathering at Ag’s for coffee. In memory of Agnes Moffat, donations made to the Prairie Health Centre Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
