Passed on: April 19th, 2011
Margaret 'Jean' Brown, 86, of Kamloops passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Jean was born on July 20, 1924 in Kamloops to David and Jennie Strong. She married William G. (Bill) Brown on June 3, 1950 who preceded her in death in 2003.
Jean spent her early years in Blue River, BC where her father was a railroader and mother a school teacher and home maker. After graduating Kamloops High School Jean's vocation was in banking, which she returned to throughout her working life.
During her life she remained active with family and community activities. Jean was involved in the PEO sisterhood, Kamloops Chapter AC, and with the Kamloops United Church. She was passionate about bridge, and in recent years became fanatical about watching curling, figure skating and tennis. She traveled, and relished the opportunity to attend the theatre and other community events whenever she could.
Most importantly, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Glen (Marcia) Brown of Abbotsford, BC; Heather Brown and Marcie Flamand of Delta, BC; and Ian (Heather) Brown of Port Coquitlam, BC; and six grandchildren: Jordan, Sara, Jeff, Leah, Callum, and Hannah.
Jean took great pride in her Kamloops roots and could not have imagined a better place and better friends to have lived a life as full.
A Celebration of Jean's life will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Kamloops United Church.
Memorial donations, may be made in the form of contributions to Kamloops United Church or PEO, Chapter AC.
