Hollis, Frances Margaret “Fannie†- 75, Bass River passed away with her family by her side on Monday, August 10, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Bass River, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Willena (Ellis) Carde and devoted wife of the late Earl Hollis. Fannie loved music, cooking, knitting and having visitors along with playing great card games. She loved telling jokes to family and friends. She is survived by sisters, Marie McElhinney, Lower Debert, Doreen (Glenn) Putnam, Masstown; brother, James Carde, Bass River; sister-in-law, Hilda Hollis, Oxford; nieces, Patti, Gail, Katherine, Jennifer; nephews, Donald, Brandon, Jamie; special cousin, Shirley; numerous relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl in 2007; sister, Joyce and brother Leo; brother-in-law, Arthur McElhinney. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with funeral service on Wednesday, August 12 at 2:00 pm; both in Riverside United Church, Bass River with Rev. Don MacQueen officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Bass River. Donations in Fannie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Assc.
