NEW GLASGOW - Marie Catherine MacGillivray, 84, of High Crest Place, formerly of Frederick Street, New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, August 9th, 2009 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pine Tree, she was a resident of Lismore before moving to New Glasgow in 1941. She was a former employee of the former Coffee Pot in New Glasgow having worked there for some 40 years.
She was a member of the former St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Marie was a member of the St. Gregory’s CWL.
Surviving are sisters, Theresa Hart and Nancy (Ross) McKellar, both of Cambridge, ON; brothers, Andrew (Irene),Whitby; ON; Leo (Paulette), Saskatchewan; Donald, Lismore; special cousins, Gloria Holmes, Foxbrook; and her daughters: Kathy, Darlene and Wendy; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, sisters: Mary MacGillivray, Bernadette Kumpf and Sadie; brothers: Gerard, John, James and Arthur.
The family will receive visitors from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery, Egerton.
