Jessie May Landsburg
Landsburg, Jessie “May” (Dawson) passed away April 27, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born on May 9, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Porter) Dawson. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and met and married her husband John in 1954 in Winnipeg. May is survived by daughter, Janet Hoyt (Charlie) with whom she lived; sons, Bert (Shelley), Philip and Bob (Cathie). She was the beloved grandmother of Jason Hoyt (Jacqueline), Suzanne Cooper (James), Bretton, Breanne, Tricia, Meara, Patrick and Christeena; great grandmother to Austin and Evan; sisters to Kathleen Coulson and Sandra Sutherland (Chuck); numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 2006 by her husband of 51 years, John; brothers, Robert, Philip and Porter; brother-in-law, Richard; sister-in-law, Sally. May was a member of WI and the Bible Hill Garden Club and enjoyed participating at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition floral exhibits. She was an avid gardener who would spend hours tending to the spectacular gardens she got so much joy from. She enjoyed bird watching and making dried flower arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2 from 7-9pm with Funeral service on Tuesday, May 3, at 2pm both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
