It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Barbara Gieni on April 30, 2011. Mom was born on May 2, 1925 at Bayard, SK. She was predeceased by our Dad, Vasile Gieni; brothers: Sigman, Anton, Bernard, Victor, Frank, Johnny and Fred; sisters: Josephine and Emma. She leaves to mourn her children Gerry (Mary Lou), Lonnie (Gwen), Neal (Muriel), Keith (June), Lynn (Randy), Mark (Brenda), Les (Deneen); daughters-in-law Norma and Carol; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Hedy Guraluick and Annie Ludwar; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mom was a loving, caring and giving person who lived her life with great spiritual faith. The love for her family was utmost in her life. As a result, our family bond shares a special closeness, which is unique and a testament to her love. She had a wonderful sense of humour that was most definitely passed down through the generations. She was passionate about cooking for her family. Hours of gardening, playing cards, bingo and scrabble also brought her happiness. She treasured her friendship with the Eastend walking group, who helped her through our Dad's passing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Father Louis Kim will be the Mass Celebrant. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations to Providence Place would be appreciated by the family.
