Whitman, Evelyn Alberta - 94, Truro passed away peacefully Monday, August 10, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. In her earlier days, she was employed as a merchandise purchaser for Goodman’s Ltd., Truro. She was also a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Evening Branch A.C.W. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, knitting and needlepoint. Her best days were spent at the summer cottage with family and friends. She was a devoted wife to Oakley who predeceased her in 1976; loving mother to Marilyn (Boyd) Chubbs, Newfoundland, Lynda (Michael) Johnson, Truro. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Carter, Christopher Carter, Frederick James Hoar, Gina Hoar; great-grandson, Nicholas Carter; sister, Lauretta Graham, Truro; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Frederick, Eugene and Donald. There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will be held at Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church Window Fund.
