Alvin Douglas Slack, 63, of Springhill, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Ezra & Evelyn (Patton) Slack.



Alvin loved life and his daily walks. He was an avid fan of fiddle music and listened to greats, such as Don Messer faithfully. He had a large collection of records of various fiddling artists. Alvin liked the simple life, not needing much to make him happy.



He will be sadly missed by a sister, Doris Bird, Wallace Station; brother, Roy (Carleen) Slack, Amherst, Gary (Jane) Venus, Pugwash Junction.



Alvin's remains have been entrusted into the care of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where visitation was held Thursday evening. Funeral Service held 10:00 am Friday, August 14, 2009 from the Funeral Home. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
