Glenn Alden Fleming
Fleming, Glenn Alden - 89, Truro, Colchester County, passed away Sunday, May 1st, 2011 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Belmont, Col. Co., he was the son of the late Lorne and Nettie (Lynds) Fleming. Until his retirement, Glenn was a long time employee of Rushton’s Service Station having provided faithful service for over 40 years. Glenn was a long time lover of old time music. Playing his fiddle was his life long passion and he will certainly be missed by his fellow musicians. Glenn enjoyed going for a drive through his old neighbourhood. Always a farm boy at heart, he delighted in a chance to visit any number of local farms where there was a team of horses. He was also a long time member of the Canadian Order of Foresters.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Nellie MacMillian; brothers Ellis, Ernest, Ira, Reginald; sisters Grace (Johnson) and Dorothy (Tkaczyk). He is survived by his long time friend and companion Ella Purdy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
No visitation by request. Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A graveside service will take place on Friday at 2:00pm in the Camden Cemetery, Camden with Dr. Brian Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in Glenn’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
