It is with absolute profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Martin Patrick Gardiner at the Health Science Centre on December 15, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary, and brother Bernie. Left with beautiful memories and broken hearts are his beloved wife Patricia (nee Richards); sons Robert (Deanne) and Stephen; grandson Shamus; sisters, Madeline Gardiner, Eileen (Troy) Pinsent, Maureen (Gale) Meehan; brother, Patrick Jr. Gardiner; in-laws, Billy (Barb) Richards, David (Joan) Richards, Harry (Gail) Richards, Andrew (Georgina) Richards, Frank Richards, Gertrude (Ron) Wheaton, Millie Richards, Janet Richards, Gerry Neary; a huge circle of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, many coworkers and colleagues in the bowling community; and, very special friend Hazel Willcott, hunting pals Bob Webber and Stan Dagostine, and neighbors Keith and Janice Upshall. The family wishes to send sincere gratitude to the nurses and Dr. Mary O'Brien at the Intensive Care Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their great kindness, compassion and care. Although our hearts are heavy with sadness, they will remain forever full of Martin's fond memories, his never ending stories, love of sports and hunting, karaoke, dancing and bowling and of course his infectious laugh. Cremation has already taken place, there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held. In his memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter.
