Ian Milley
Age 61, of Halifax, born in St. John’s Nfld, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at VG Hospital in Halifax with his wife and family at his side. No Newfie ever leaves the Rock entirely, but for the past 30 years, Ian has thoroughly enjoyed calling Halifax home with his loving wife Darlene Kinghorn. Ian's career, over the years, included sales and marketing for several food and beverage companies and enjoying many of his wide-ranging interests, too, mostly cars. He took many a road trip in very interesting vehicles, often with a game of golf tossed in there somewhere. Ian often enjoyed Christmas holidays and numerous spring vacations in Siesta Key Sarasota with Darlene, and his in-laws. This Christmas won't be the same without Ian riding his bike along the beach with his crazy Santa hat. He had a huge heart, a ready smile, an eagerness to engage with anybody and a general joy and enthusiasm for life that his family and friends will forever miss. He is survived by his wife Darlene Kinghorn and their new dog Nikki, brothers Peter (Chris Hornberger), Doug (Sharon), brother-in-law Douglas Coffin, in-laws Roy and Carol Kinghorn, brother-in-law Paul (Cathy) Kinghorn, nephew Gordon Milley and nieces Emma and Amanda Kinghorn. Ian was predeceased by his parents Fred and Margaret (MacNab) Milley and sister Janet. Although Ian didn't make it to the next stage of his illness journey, he would like to help others. His wish was that everyone would consider becoming an organ donor. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation of Nova Scotia. The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and doctors at the QE2 and VG hospitals. Cremation is under the care of J.A. Snow Funeral Home with a family burial service to be held at a later date. Please join us for a celebration of Ian’s life at Armdale Yacht Club (off Purcell’s Cove Road, Hfx). On Thursday. Dec. 21st between 3-5 pm. On-Line condolences may be made by visiting www.jasnowfuneralhome.com.
