Born Margaret Lesley White in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Feb. 7, 1915, daughter of Thomas White and Gladys Watson.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Moore McPhail; her son-in-law, John McPhail and her beloved grandson, Iain McPhail.
She married Bruce Stewart Moore in November 1939 and came to Sydney as a young bride.
She was widowed in May 1961 and later, married Allison ‘Al’ MacMillan, City of Sydney Deputy Fire Chief, who predeceased her in June 1997.
‘Les’ or ‘Grandma’ as she was known, is unforgettable to her family and friends. Her love, kindness, compassion, and determination will be remembered but it is her laughter and joy of life that were her unique gifts to those who loved her.
Special thanks to the neighbours of Cusack Drive and friends whose kindness and help enable her to have the independence she wanted. Thanks also to the doctors and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and respect.
Visitation Friday, May 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at Christ The King Anglican Church.
