It is with deep regret that we, the family, announce the passing of Hugh MacLeod on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay.
Born in New Boston, he was the son of the late Rory and Louise (Wilberham) MacLeod.
He was a boilermaker by trade with 35 years of service until his retirement. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union Lodge 73. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tinkering in his garage and doing yard work.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria (Parsons); son, Derek MacLeod; three daughters, Jocelyn (Jimmy) Mahon, Mary Lou (Darrell) Harris, Linda (Arnold) Wilcox. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Katherine (William) MacDonald, Sarah Ann MacSween; one brother, Allan (Kaye) MacLeod; six wonderful grandchildren, Brent (Deanna) Harris, Sheena Harris (Terry), Crystal Dollimont (Mike), Tiffany Wilcox (Matt), Chad Wilcox and Nicole Smith (Tyler); his extended family, numerous nieces and nephews as well as his two special feline friends, Kallie and Mitzi.
Besides his parents, Hugh was predeceased by sisters, Florence and Catherine; brothers, Angus and Donald and brother-in-law, Donald Hugh MacSween.
Visitation will take place Monday, August 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu, with Fr. Patrick O’Neil officiating. Interment to follow in parish cemetery.
