Ruth Yvonne Yorke, age 59 of Glace Bay passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Ruth was the chosen daughter of the late Bill and Violet (MacKenzie) Abbott.
She is survived by her daughter, Tanyia (Bob Truckair), Glace Bay and a son, Bobby (Alma Rigby), New Waterford; sister, Ena, Seaview Manor; two grandsons, Logan and Mason Truckair, whom she loved very much. Ruth is survived by a sister-in-law, Lorraine MacDonald of P.E.I., wife of the late Earl ‘Sonny’ Abbott.
Besides her parents, Violet and Bill Abbott, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis ‘Buddy’ Yorke; sisters, May, Glace Bay, Shirley (Phil Turnbull), Lower Sackville, brother, Earl ‘Sonny’ Abbott, Glace Bay.
There will be no visitation for Ruth Yorke. A private graveside service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay with Rev. Ralph Johnston officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
As an expression of sympathy for Ruth, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
