LEBLANC, ALYRE JOSEPH (AJ) - 1924 - 2011 - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alyre J. LeBlanc on Friday, May 6th, 2011. Born in Memramcook, NB on May 17th, 1924, he was the son of the late Donat and the late Zoe (née: Vigneault) LeBlanc. Alyre was a retired Carmen with the CNR after forty-two years of service. He was a member of the Ste.-Thérèse parish and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus #1310 Sunny Brae, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6, Moncton, a member of the CNR War Vets and also a member of the CN Pensioners Association. Alyre was a veteran of World War II having served overseas with the Carleton York Regiment in Italy, Africa and Sicily. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (née: Doiron); his daughter, Pauline Farrell and son, Terry (Doris) both of Moncton; his granddaughters: Billie-jo Mabey (Peter) and Tammy House and great grandsons: Matthew and Benjamin Mabey and Dylan House; his sisters: Rose Landry (late Aime) and Viola Leaman (late Ron). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Bella LeBlanc, Hermaline McQuade, Exelda Gautreau and his brother, Hector LeBlanc. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Bill Kelly in 1971.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Acadia Ave., Dieppe, NB on Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 at 11 am. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. A Legion service conducted by Branch # 6, Moncton will be held on Monday afternoon at 3:45 pm.
The Knights of Columbus Council #1310 will be conducting prayers on Monday evening at 8:45 pm. Instead of flowers, donations in Alyre’s memory can be made to the Salvation Army, Mobile One, Veteran’s Health Center, Moncton or the donor’s choice. His family would like to thank all the staff at the Veteran’s Health Center for their caring, compassion, humour, respect and great care they showed Dad during the four years he was there. For welcoming our mother with hugs and open arms when she visited our Dad. A special thank you to Andre and Gaetan. Dad was a thoughtful, caring and generous family man who always had a smile for everyone. Dad enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He will be remembered for his caring ways and for his great sense of humour.
He truly loved his family and would have done anything for them. He was a very proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.
