STELLARTON – Helen Sarah MacKay, 87, of Maple Street, Stellarton, formerly of Old Halifax Road, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Little Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Sarah (Cunningham) Tate.
Mrs. MacKay was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Br. #28, Stellarton, where she had held several offices in the past, recently receiving her 40 year pin.
She is survived by daughters: Darlene Watson, Cindy Ariganello, and Jan MacDonald, all of B.C.; grandchildren: Tania Bigney (Keith), Doug Muir (Lesley), Jerry Ariganello (Joanne), Collette Conway (Vince), Amy Spottiswood (Sean), Nicki MacDonald (David), David MacDonald (Stephanie); and nephew, Sid Fraser (Jane).
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry MacKay; son, Wesley; brother, Sidney Tate; sister, Marie Fraser; and niece Marilyn Fraser.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
