Robert James (Jim) Marchessault

Jim Marchessault of Moose Jaw passed away at home, with family at his side, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Jim was born in Gravelbourg, SK, twin to Jan. The ability to overcome and persevere marked Jim’s life endeavors, from the farming that was his youth, to becoming a police officer, a professional cook, and businessman. After a 16 year battle, he managed to beat cancer, only to suffer with Parkinson’s. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Maggie Marchessault, brothers: Laurie, Stan, Les, Murray, and his twin sister Jan, he will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years Donna Marchessault, his son Brent Marchessault (Diann), his daughters Laura Marchessault and Vanese Marchessault Ferguson (John), his sisters Vivian (Edwin Meyer) and Shirley Marchessault, his grand and great-grandchildren: Carmine, Dustin, Tamara, Dean, Jill, Izzy, Alex and little Tamara; as well as many dearly cherished nieces and nephews. A husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, it was all about family and we knew we were loved, as he is, and will always be. Following a private service, there will be a Come & Go Tea at the Eagles Club, 561 Home St. W., on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Sask. Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, or the Parkinson Society Canada. In living memory of Jim, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
