Wayne Marr, 67, of Glace Bay passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Joe and Laura (Abraham) Marr.
Wayne was a member of the Laborers Union and was employed as a construction worker in Ontario, retiring in 1989. Wayne was a very quiet natured man, and a dedicated ‘Habs fan’. He enjoyed music, and loved playing drums. He was the drummer for the group Ventura’s.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Patricia (Kennedy) Marr; daughters, Karen (Kevin) Langdon, Lucy (Mike) Bridle; sons, Wayne Jr. and Donnie (Suzanne), all of Ontario. Also left to mourn his passing are his brother, Eric (Cathy), Pennsylvania, USA; sisters, Sandra (Gerry) Marsh and Anne Marr, both of Ontario; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; special nephew, Jimmy Marsh and a special friend, Leonard Jones.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Gary.
Visitation for Wayne Marr will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral Service will be celebrated 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Glace Bay, at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy for Wayne, donations in his memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
