Helen Mary Christ ‘nee Olynuk’
October 23, 1937 – December 23, 2017
Helen Mary Christ ‘nee Olynuk’, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away at Saint Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Helen was born in Middle Lake, SK on October 23, 1937 to John and Anna Olynuk. She lived briefly in Saskatoon before spending the majority of her life in Prince Albert. She worked at the Burns plant in Prince Albert before taking over a hair salon downtown, Focus One Hair Design. Helen married her husband Rolf Christ on October 6, 1962. They lived their entire married life in Prince Albert with regular visits to their second home in Germany to visit Rolf’s family, their friends, and their daughter Jackie. They also enjoyed spending time at Emma Lake at the family cabin. Helen was a vigorous physical person throughout her life. She took great pleasure in all kinds of outdoor activity, but most especially in growing a garden both at home in Prince Albert and at Emma Lake. Her physical abilities were nearly unaffected by age as Helen continued to work outside right up until this fall. Helen is survived by her brother: Michael; her daughter: June (Simon) and their daughters: Jordan and Chayce; and her daughter: Jackie (Mario) and their daughter: Sophia and son: Adam. Helen was pre-deceased by her husband of 48 years: Rolf Christ; and by her older siblings: Patricia, Peter, Josephine, Nick, William, Tony, and Rose. At Helen’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. A private Prayer Service will be held in Prince Albert, SK. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.
