Ronald (Ron) Howard Goettler of Mortlach passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Saturday August 15, 2009 at the age of 69 years. Ron was born June 25, 1940 in Moose Jaw. He attended Red School as well as Mortlach School here in Saskatchewan. Working on the farm all his life, Ron was a strong believer in the preservation of natural habitat for wildlife and enjoyed watching deer graze in his yard. He loved looking after his cattle, doing field work, and tinkering in his yard. His favourite pastime was sitting in the sunshine while enjoying the company of his close friends and relatives. Predeceased by his father George and mother Bertha, brothers: Russell, Harold, Walter, Eugene and Clifford; nephew Brian Goettler, and niece Terri Lee, Ron is survived by his sisters: Margaret Peterson – Regina; Hazel Lee – California; and Lyla Wensley – Langham, SK; sisters-in-law: Martha Goettler – Regina, and Helen Goettler – Saskatoon; and several nieces and nephews. Ron will be greatly missed by his dear friends, relatives, and special friend Mary Dreger. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Cemetery. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 Albert St., Regina, S4R 2P6, would be appreciated.
