It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Patrick ‘Patty’ Fortune, age 63 of Dominion. Patty passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Patrick and Hannah (Forbes) Fortune. He was a member of St. Eugene’s Church, Dominion. Patty was a member of the Dominion Pensioners Club. He loved to play darts in Branch 78 Mixed Dart League, Shamrock Men’s Dart League and Dominion Hawks Dart League.
Patty will be sadly missed by brothers, George (Lydia), Dominion, Myles (Claire), Sydney, Norman (Susan), Oxford, N.S., Robert (Shirley) Boutilier, Glace Bay; sisters, Veronica Fortune, Dominion, Annabelle (Henry) Skinner, Sydney, Eileen & Jessica White, Dominion; brother-in-law, Glen White, Halifax; aunts, Elizabeth Thomas (Fortune), Port Morien, Edna Fisher (Forbes), Dominion; close friend, Frances Corbett, Dominion. Patty is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and all other family and friends.
Visitation for Patty Fortune will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Eugene’s Church, Dominion with Fr. Andrew Gillies officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
