Gordon O'Neal
Gordon O'Neal, age 62, of Sackville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 2, 2011, in the comforting presence of his loving wife and family.
Born in Sackville, he was a son of the late Lewis and June (Dixon) O'Neal.
Gordon loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, four wheeling and golfing. He grew up as a rink rat in the Sackville Rink, and loved everything about hockey. When he wasn't playing or coaching hockey, he was watching his kids or grandkids play. Gordon was well liked in his community of friends and co-workers, known for his strength, determination and sense of humor.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Joan (Melanson), Sackville; daughter Lesley (Frank) Burns, Sackville; sons Scott (Christine), Sackville and Shane (Chris Major), Sackville; 7 grandchildren, Travis, Abbi, Emma, Aidan, Owen, Hannah, John; brother, Michael (Josie), Sackville; sisters, Starr Ann (Jerry) Richard, Virginia, Patricia (Bill) Drysdale, Bayfield, Melanie (Bruce) McGinney, Sackville, Tammy (Kevin) Dever, Florida.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours took place on Thursday. The memorial service was held at the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2011, at 2 p.m., William Drysdale DLM officiating.
Those wishing to make a donation in Gordon's memory may do so to the Sackville Minor Hockey or the Canadian Cancer Society.
