Diana Marie Townsend, 87, of Coxheath, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Silvie and Catherine (MacIntosh) Mingarelli.
Diana worked many years at the general office, Sydney Steel Co. She was a volunteer for many years in Florida, her home away from home.
Diana is survived by her son, Randy (Sharon), Coxheath; grandson, Ian (Jacqueline), New Waterford; granddaughter, Karen (Shaun) Broderick, Glace Bay; great-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Sierra; great-grandson, Dallas; sisters, Marion Willis, Sylvia (Tillie) MacLeod, Maxine (Lewis) Sernyk, and Mabel (Ian) Rice, all of Sydney, Judy Crane, of South Bar; numerous nieces and nephews.
Diana was predeceased by her husband, Emdon Charles; sister, Elsie (Matheson) MacKenzie; brothers, Henry ‘Doc’, Danny, and Silvie.
Many, many, many thanks to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and kindness.
A memorial service honouring Diana’s life will be held Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ralph Johnston officiating. Interment will be held in Alfred Smith Cemetery, at a later date.
