Timmons, Georgina “Margaret” (Downing) – 100, Truro passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011 in Meadowland Villa, Truro. Born in Belmont on December 11, 1910 she was a daughter of the late George and Nina (Roode) Downing. Margaret enjoyed a wonderful life working with her husband in the bakery business during the 50’s and 60’s. She loved to crochet, play cards, play the organ and sing. Margaret and Wesley were members of and took pleasure in Good Time Senior’s dancing. She also enjoyed camping in Kemptown and spending her summer vacations in Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton. She was a life member of St. Andrew’s United Church and the UCW of Truro. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Margaret is survived by daughters, Lorraine (John) Sullivan, Truro, June Bates, Halifax, Beverly (Russell) Bradley, Shortt’s Lake; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, John Wesley; daughter, Joyce Knight; grandsons, Gregory Bates and James Hanes; sister, Bessie Pratt; brothers, Charles, Francis and Ronald. Visitation will be held Monday, May 16th from 1 pm until the beginning of the funeral service at 2 pm, all in St. Andrew’s United Church, 55 King Street, Truro with Rev. Sue King-Darby officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Belmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s United Church or a charity of choice.
