We sadly announce the sudden, but peaceful death of Jesse John White, age 77, at Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, on May 12, 2011. Long time resident of Bell Island, Jesse was the beloved father of five children and was predeceased by wife Doreen (Cole), father William White, mother Laura (Radcliffe), brothers: Cyril and William, sister Eveline (Grenville Hunt) and sister-in-law Bette White (Purcell). Leaving to mourn daughters: Jill (Gary MacDonald), Eveline (Randy Wright), Marilee (Brian Hickey); sons: John (Sharon), Howie (Isabelle); ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also mourning are brothers: Oliver (Muriel), Gordon (Shirley); sisters: Grace (Thomas Wall), Daphne (Jack Tarrant), Winifred (Hubert Skanes), Lydia (Lloyd Bennett); sister-in-law Angela; many nieces, nephews and friends. Many thanks to the staff of 4 South A, Dialysis Unit and ICU, Dr. Paul and Dr. Shik of the Health Sciences Center and to Father John Courage for his comfort during his hospital stay. Resting at Pendergast’s Funeral Home, Bell Island, with visitation to be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at United Church on Bell Island with interment to follow at St. Cyprian’s Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Flowers are greatly appreciated, or donations may be made in Jesse’s memory to a charity of your choice.
